Rodney Dean Frazier

August 7th, 1957 - April 21st, 2024

Rodney Dean Frazier of Nampa, Idaho, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024. Rodney was born August 7, 1957, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Melvin and Loretta Frazier, with siblings: Steve, Skip, and Sue, and younger sister, Kathy.

He graduated from Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, New Mexico in 1975.

He married Jeanette on April 20th, 1979, in Rogue River, Oregon. Upon entering this union, he became a father to Dayna and Shannon. They were married until Jeanette's death in 2015.

He then met and fell in love with Lisa; they loved to travel and took many wonderful trips together. One of which was to Jamaica, where they were married on December 7th, 2017. Their last trip was in February when they went to Cozumel, Mexico. They loved the outdoors, whether it was on the beach or camping. One of their favorite places was Horsethief Reservoir. They were married until his death.

Rod had a long work history including being a farmhand, then becoming a neon sign fabricator and a certified EMT. He then started his career as a journeyman baker while working for Albertson’s. He and Jeanette opened Frazier's Bakery in Gold Beach, Oregon, and Battle Rock Bakery in Port Orford, Oregon. The family then moved to Idaho where he was employed with Rockwood Corp. He returned to Albertson’s as a bakery manager and then finished his time as a baker working for Paul's.

He changed career directions and started working for MCMS in Boise, Idaho in the electronics industry; the company then transitioned to Plexus Corporation. Over time and using his technical skills he moved up in the company to become a manufacturing tech and head of tooling design. He was very talented and had many patents while working in this field. He was currently employed with Plexus; his employment for MCMS/Plexus spanned 27 years.

Rod’s favorite job was Grandpa to Traci and Danny. He was an amazing Grandpa to them - teaching many things like good life skills and his fair share of not so good things, too. But he also taught them to know the difference between the two (also when and what to tell Grandma what they had learned). Just when he thought life couldn't get any better, he was promoted to Great Grandpa. He enjoyed each and every one of them. He had so much fun teaching them new things or finding just the right gift for each one of them. He was ready to support them whether it was fund raising, school programs, sporting events, or dance programs. He was one proud Grandpa/Papa.

Rod loved to be busy and had a variety of hobbies. He loved to travel, whether it was to the ocean or the mountains and enjoyed the times when Shannon or Danny went hunting or fishing with him. He enjoyed fly fishing and had a love of salmon and steelhead fishing. He was also a lifelong bowhunter and made his own bows and arrows. He was a talented wood carver, depicting wildlife like elk and moose in great detail. Rod also etched glass. His first project was a full-size mirror of the Oregon coast, complete with a lighthouse, sand surf, and seagulls. It still displayed with pride in his daughter’s home. He always kept a beautiful yard and was a gardening guru – a master at growing tomatoes.

Rod’s love for woodworking and carving led to him and Lisa's laser-engraving venture they called Laser Reflections. Rod really showed his talent and creativity making beautifully engraved cutting boards, crafting them from planks of wood and making beautiful keepsakes. They were a part of the Nampa Farmers Market, selling the things they had made.

Rod is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughter, Dayna (Don) Milliron; son, Shannon (Jan) Frazier; grandchildren: Traci (Wyatt), Danny (Sherie) Weaver, and Keith Kelley; and six great grandchildren, with the seventh due later this year; Lisa's children, Jacob (Kate) Comfort and McKenzie (Zane) Childs; and two grandchildren, with one more on the way; brothers, Steve (Peggy) Frazier and Skip (Carolyn) Frazier; sisters, Sue Fleming and Kathy Barker; numerous nieces and nephews; cousin, Sharon Frost; Lisa's sister, Brenda (Dewayne) Caldwell; Lisa’s brothers, Jim Johnson and David (Kit) Johnson; Lisa’s nieces and nephews; and sidekicks, Leo and Lilly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette; niece, Tammy; nephew, Mark; in-laws, L.D. (Berniece) Mayfield and Jim (Arlene) Johnson; and best friend, Taz.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Still Water Hollow, 18120 Dean Lane, Nampa, ID 83687. All friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories with the family.
