Rodolfo "Rudy" Ortiz Olvera
May 7th, 1947 - July 25th, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rodolfo “Rudy” O. Olvera, 77, who left us on July 25, 2024. Born on May 7, 1947, in Sinton, TX. Rudy lived a life marked by resilience, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
Rudy migrated to Idaho in 1967, where he worked diligently in various crop fields before embarking on a successful career as a multilith printer, a role he cherished until his retirement in 2009. Although he was a high school graduate, Rudy’s true education came from life itself—he was a lifelong learner with a passion for knowledge and family.
Rudy's life was a testament to starting from humble beginnings and building a life rich in love and accomplishment. He had an infectious smile, and a wit that made every conversation memorable. His interests included his deep faith, a love for family, music, traveling, westerns, wrestling, and an endearing hobby of collecting Hot Wheels. As a dedicated fan of BSU (Go Broncos!), Rudy’s enthusiasm for his team was just one of the many ways he showed his vibrant personality.
Rudy is preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Carmen Olvera and his brother Venada Olvera.
Rudy is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Alicia V. Olvera; his children, Remy Rodolfo Olvera (Sandy), Vicente Roberto Olvera (Vanessa), and Jessica Renee Schafer (Jessie); and his siblings, Gloria Serrata, Amelia Corona, Alicia Jaxon, and Ana Olvera. He was a proud grandfather to Mason, Ayjen, Kazdon, Jazlyn, and Soren. As well as an abundance of extended family who were very fond of him.
Rudy’s legacy is a beautiful family that he cherished deeply. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a profound impact on all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 5th, at 7:00 PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. A Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of the Valley, Caldwell on August 6th at 10:00 AM.
Rudy will always be remembered for his million-dollar smile, contagious laugh, and the love he so generously shared. His family finds comfort in knowing he was proud of the life he built and the family he adored.
