Roger G. Fournier
December 2nd, 1923 - December 9th, 2005
"Roger G. “Bucky” Fournier, Sr.82, of Aldrich St., formerly of Gralia Dr., in Springfield for 40 years, died on Friday, December 9, at his son’s home. Born in Holyoke, MA on Dec. 2, 1923, he was the son of the late Theodore and Emma (LaRoche) Fournier. Roger was raised in Holyoke and lived for 40 years in Springfield before moving to Daytona Beach, FL twelve years ago. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of the Armed Guard and was influential in forming the Armed Guard in the Western, MA area. Roger was a member of the Moose Lodge in Chicopee for many years and in his leisure enjoyed performing karaoke at many locations. He was predeceased by his wife Jeannette (Desautels) Fournier in 1986. He is survived by his two sons Roger, Jr., his wife Phyllis and their children, Roger III and Karen of Virginia Beach, VA and David and his wife Tracey and their children, Matthew and Erica of Belchertown. He also leaves a sister Elaine Fournier with the Order of The Presentation of Mary in Methuen and a brother Normand and his wife Jean of Holyoke. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by twin brothers, Gerard and Richard Fournier. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street, (Rte. 116) followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley. Burial will follow with military honors in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, December 12 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to Quaboag Valley Hospice, 42B Wright St., Palmer, 01069 or to Moose Lodge #1849, 244 Fuller Rod, Chicopee01020. "
