Roger Hall Hayes

Roger Hall Hayes 69, of Tega Cay, SC passed away unexpectedly July 1, 2015. Roger was born February 6, 1946 son to the late Thomas A. and Miriam M. Hayes. Roger is survived by DeAndra (Vannest) Hayes, his wife of 34 years, his sons, James Oliver Hayes of Grover, NC and Reggie Van Hayes of Indian Land, SC, his sister, Carolyn Pracon of Phoenix, AZ, brother, Thomas Hayes of Stewart, FL and 7 nieces and nephews. Roger graduated from Berlin High, Berlin, CT and Kentucky Wesleyan College, Owensboro, KY and where he sat on the board for several years. His career began at Fafnir Bearing Co, New Britain, CT, then moved on to New Hampshire Ball Bearing, Peterborough, NH, SKF in Allentown, PA, Chicago Pneumatic, Utica, NY and he retired as President, CEO of The Huffman Corp, Clover, SC after almost 20 years. He belonged to and was an active board member of The Association Manufacturing Technology for many years. The world lost a truly brilliant man who literally touched millions of lives, and his actions will continue to touch lives forever. May it be the jobs he saved, or the products, and processes he helped bring to the market. May it be in the medical field, with knee and hip replacements, or aerospace and power generation, with jet engines and gas turbines. He has parts in cars, trucks, and heavy equipment. He was a dedicated Christian and active at his church, singing in the choir, went on mission trips to Panama and held several leadership roles. After retirement and a visit to Israel, he began Biblical Studies and Theology at Knox Theological Seminary. He was an avid movie buff, always researching, viewing and critiquing. He had an extensive library, constantly reading and researching and so loved the space saving kindle. The family will receive friends at 1:00pm followed by a memorial service celebrating Roger"s life at 2:00pm, July 13, 2015 at Grace Community Church 1190 Gold Hill Road, Fort Mill, SC 29708. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Grace Community Church.
