Laughlin, Roger Allen MD, 78 of Saint Petersburg, passed away on January 25th 2014 at the Palms of Pasadena Hospital by natural causes. He was a general practice physician in Pinellas County for over 40 years. Dr. Laughlin, a native of southern Ohio attended Dennison University in Granville, Ohio and received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati Medical College in 1962. After completing his internship at Mound Park Hospital, Dr. Laughlin served as Captain and Flight Surgeon in the Air Force for two years before beginning his own practice on Saint Petersburg Beach in December 1965. Very active in medical affairs, Dr. Laughlin served on the board of Governors of the Pinellas County Medical Society and was a member and delegate to the Florida Medical Association. Dr. Laughlin was a member of the American Medical Association and the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. He was also Chief of Staff at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in 1975. Dr. Laughlin, a former high school teacher and basketball and track coach, was also heavily interested in all sports. He enjoyed watching and coaching his sons little league baseball and football teams and watching his daughters gymnastics. He is survived by his daughter Laura Pfifer and his two sons Jeffrey Laughlin and Clay Laughlin. He is also survived by four grand children: Jillian Pfifer, Noah Laughlin, Leah Laughlin and Rinah Laughlin. Dr. Laughlin was very much loved by his family, friends, patients and community. He was a compassionate dedicated physician and a good family man. His core values were hard work, determination and compassion. He had a huge heart and very often helped the less fortunate. Dr. Laughlin was one of a kind. He has touched the hearts of thousands of lives and will be sorely missed. We love you Dad!
