Roger Rutledge McGrath, Jr., 66, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at his home in Charlotte, NC. He was born August 21, 1944 in St. Paul, MN. He grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Roger joined the Army right out of high school and ended a 30-plus year career at the rank of Full Colonel. Roger served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 1st and 2nd Infantry Divisions where he was awarded the Silver Star with one oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters and a Purple Heart. Roger was a member of Special Forces. Since 1994 Roger has been a professor of Business, in the McColl School of Business, at Queens University, Charlotte, NC. He received his B.S., in Management and Economics from the University of Tampa, Tampa, Fla. He received his M.P.S., in Public Administration from Clark University, Worcester, Massachusetts. He received his D.B.A. in Management and Management Science from The Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida. Roger was the author of two books, several articles and numerous published papers. Roger traveled the world giving presentations. He served on the Advantage Carolina Task Force, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. And was Chairman of Rosetta Technologies Corporation (Tampa, FL) Roger is survived by his wife Betty, sons Roger R. McGrath III (Sarasota, FL), David McGrath (Jacksonville, FL), granddaughter Riley McGrath (Jacksonville, FL), brother Brian (Pat) McGrath (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), sisters Lyn (Ron) Wright (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and Jane (Clair) Gerry (Sioux Falls, SD). A memorial service will be scheduled at Queens University. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McColl School Excellence Fund, c/o Queens University, 1900 Selwyn Ave. Charlotte, NC 28274 or to Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, 28078.
