Roger Schnabel
November 24th, 1936 - May 22nd, 2023
Roger Wilson Schnabel - 86 of Lexington, Kentucky and Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away at his home in Lexington on May 22, 2023. Roger is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Ellen Fones Schnabel; daughters Cindy Schnabel, Lisa Schwartzenberg (Dean), Nancy Dollar (Craig); grandsons Tyler Dollar, Mitchell Dollar, and Christopher Hall; stepdaughter Melissa Fitzpatrick Mahoney (Andrew); stepson Gary Shively; grandchildren Nicholas Fitzpatrick, Katie Fitzpatrick, Hannah Fitzpatrick, Grayson Shively, and Griffin Shively. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lois Schnabel, and three nephews: Bryan Schnabel (Patricia), Craig Schnabel (Mandy) and Eric Schnabel (Jessica). Roger was born on November 24, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he grew up and attended Woodward High School and the University of Cincinnati graduating with his BA degree and later his MBA degree at Xavier University. He retired after many years of service in the pharmaceutical industry. Roger always had a love for boating and the lake so a few years after retiring he and his good friend, Billy Bussell, formed the Mid-American Boating Association LLC and started the Lake Cumberland poker runs and Western Kentucky poker runs. They sure had some great fun with these over the years! Later, Roger took up tennis and enjoyed attending the polo matches in Wellington, Florida but what he enjoyed most was spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on August 10, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Signature Club on Lansdowne Drive in Lexington, Ky. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association.
