Roland Arthur Gregoire
October 9th, 1933 - October 14th, 2018
"South Hadley - Roland A. Gregoire, 85, died on October 14, 2018 at Renaissance Manor in Holyoke with his loving family by his side. Born October 8, 1933 in Holyoke, he was the son of Ovila and Lillian (Chabot) Gregoire. A lifelong resident of S. Hadley, he was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. He spent his working career driving truck, retiring from Marquis Oil Company and he also operated a Mr. Softee Ice Cream truck in the summer for many years. A proud patriot, he served his country as a Marine during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid golfer and was proud of his 3 holes in one. But his true passion and joy was spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by wife of 61 years, Margaret (Sicard), his 2 children Laura Gregoire (Michael Barry) of Huntington, and Glenn Gregoire of South Hadley along with his sister, Rita Trudell of Holyoke and his grandchildren, Brandon Blanchard and Justin Lane. Besides his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Turgeon. Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St, (Rte 116). A Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, please meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA at 11:00 am.
