Roland Peltier
June 10th, 1930 - March 16th, 2009
"Roland Peltier, 78, of Pine Grove Dr. died peacefully on March 16, 2009 at home with his family by his side. He was born June 10, 1930 in Holyoke, MA, son of August and Lea (Yelle) Peltier. Living in S. Hadley since November of 2008, he previously resided in Granby for over 40 years. Roland was a retired US Navy Veteran, who served his country for 20 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans, and the American Legion in Granby. Roland worked as an electrician for many years, retiring in 1995, from Noble Hospital after 15 years of employment. During his retirement, he worked part time for Loomis Village and the Sisters of St. Joseph at Mont Marie. A communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, he was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Chicopee and in his leisure, enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa (Giroux) Peltier of S. Hadley and six children, Susan A. Carraher and her husband Francis of NC, David R. Peltier and his wife Susan of S. Hadley, Michael R. Peltier and his wife Patricia of Dalton, Commander James R. Peltier and his wife Lisa of Jacksonville, FL, Carol A. Peltier of S. Hadley and Patricia A. Kimmel and her husband Michael of VA. He will also be missed by a sister Florence Gregory of Agawam, nine grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning to pay their final respects before leaving for a Funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby. Internment will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery on Main St., in Agawam at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. (Rt. 116) South Hadley, MA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Building Fund, 256 State St, Granby, MA, 01033 or Sisters of St. Joseph at Mont Marie, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040, or to a charity of your choice. "
