Roland Wayne Post

Roland Wayne Post, 60 , of the Fonda-Fultonville area passed away Tuesday August 18, 2009 at the Stonehedge Nursing Home in Rome , NY. Born in Gloversville, NY on January 30th, 1949 a son of Roland J. Post and the late Dorothy Sweeney Post, who died when he was an infant. He was raised by his Mom and Dad Roland J. and Margaret E. Nare Post. He was a 1968 graduate of Fonda High School. Wayne served in the U. S. Airforce from 1968 to 1972 and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He lived in Montgomery County most of his life residing in Ft. Hunter, Amsterdam, Fultonville and Fonda, NY. Mr. Post worked for many years at General Electric in Schenectady before his retirement due to illness. He was a member of the Fonda Reformed Church and the Johnstown Moose Lodge. Wayne greatly enjoyed the outdoors which included deer hunting, fishing and riding his mortorcycles. He also was an avid Yankees and Buffalo Bills Fan. Survivors include his parents, Roland J. and Margaret E. Nare Post of Fonda, NY. One son, Michael W. Post Christina of Maryland. One daughter Sarah D. Post and granddaughter, Marcy Fisher of North Carolina . Two brothers, James F.Kimberly Post of Palatine Bridge, NY and Daniel F. Post of Gloversville, NY. One sister, Karen R. Mraz Christopherof Mayfield, NY. Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by a sister Judith Lynn Post. Funeral Services will be held on Friday evening Tonight August 21, 2009 at 6:00PM at the Fonda Reformed Church, Broadway, Fonda, NY with Rev. Christopher DeGraaf presiding. Interment will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday Today August 21, 2009 prior to the funeral service from 4:00 to 6:00PM at the Fonda Reformed Church. Full military honors will be held in the church following the funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY 12072.
