Roland Dale Wilson
October 21st, 1935 - December 24th, 2018
Roland Dale Wilson Dale Wilson, age 83, of Puyallup went to be with the Lord on Dec. 24th,2018. His wife of 56 years, Sandra “Sandy” Wilson (Ellison) was by his side. Dale is survived by 1 brother: Frank and 2 sisters: Joyce and Linda, his 5 children: David, James, Michael, Julie and Matthew, 8 grandchildren: Christa, Brenden, Jamie, Justin, Alex, Brooke, Conner and Evan, 7 great grandchildren and numerous family members. Dale was born on Oct. 21st, 1935 to Hazel and Donald Wilson in Beards Fork, WV. He was one of 9 children. He joined the Air Force in 1954. During his service he met Sandy and after a 3 week courtship they were married. He completed a tour in Guam in support of Vietnam working on B52 bomber airplanes. After 20 years of service he retired in June of 1974 as a Tech Sergeant from the Air Force. Dale then worked for the United States Postal Service in Tacoma for 22 years. On his walking route, Dale was given fruit or picked fruit to make his famous jelly. Dale was an avid reader and crossword puzzler. Doing the twist to 50’s music, he was an apple pie maker extraordinaire. His homemade jelly was given away to everyone with love. Dale was able to fix anything mechanical. Dale was a regular at Cattin’s in downtown Puyallup. On any given morning over the last 46 years you could find him at the counter in the same seat drinking coffee, reading the paper, and being feisty with the wait staff. A celebration of Dale’s life will take place on Sunday, January 13th, 2019 at 3:00 PM. Sunrise Baptist Church 12115 Shaw Rd. E Puyallup, WA 98374 The military funeral will take place Tue. January 15th, 2019 at 11:00 AM. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. In lieu of flowers please donate in Dale's name to the Gary Sinise Foundation. https://www.garysinisefoundation.org.
