Rolando Froilan Diego Gil

68, of Tampa, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Largo Medical Center. Born in Havana, Cuba, he came here in December of 2013 to achieve his dream of being amongst his family. He graduated from Academia de la FAR. He was a Cuban Army Colonel and veteran. He loved spending time with family, cooking, playing dominoes, and cheating at the game of Parcheesi. He enjoyed being the leader of the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Diego and Mariana Gil; his wife's parents, Jesus de la Torre and Angela Alvarez; their children (who were like children to him) Nery de la Torre, Nilda de la Torre, Roberto de la Torre, Estela de la Torre; daughter in law who became a daughter to him, Elizabeth Balceiro; and head of the family, Pedro Miranda. He is survived by his spouse, Lucila de la Torre Alvarez; children: Rolando Diego Arredondo, Victor Manuel Arredondo, Lisset Haydee Diego de la Torre, and Erick Pedro Diego de la Torre; Rolando Ruiz (who was like a son to him); brother, Manuel Diego Gil; 14 grandchildren; his familia de la finca; and his daughters and son in law. There will be a visitation from 2-4pm on Friday, January 3rd, at Alife Tribute Funeral Care, Tampa, 4040 Henderson Blvd. A service will be held immediately afterwards at 4pm.
