Ronald O. Bailey
April 5th, 1931 - July 22nd, 2007
None Ronald O. Bailey Ron passed away with his family & beloved granddaughter by his side July 22, 2007 after a courageous battle against lung cancer. His passing was made easier with the great support of Dr. Gerald Faye, Western Washington Oncology, Providence St. Peters, Libby, Mary, Janice and his wonderful friends Miriam & Joe. Ron was born on April 5, 1931 in Spring Valley, Wisconsin and was the youngest of seven children. He participated in and loved all sports. He earned a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin in football as a Quarterback. He finished college and spent the next 21 years in the U.S. Army where he retired as a Colonel. He was very proud of his service career and to be an American. He accepted a job in Olympia as Deputy Director of the Washington State Gambling Association and subsequently was promoted to Director before retiring after 18 years. Ron’s true passion was golf. He was an excellent golfer; however he was known to not tell you that prior to a match. He was a very serious man at work and a big, playful teddy bear at home. Ron is survived by his wife Grace, his son Greg (RaeLynn), sisters June Cochrell & Nola Morey, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Robbyn. Memorial donations may be made in Ron’s name to the American Institute for Cancer Research 1759 R Street NW, Washington DC 20009. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the Masonic Center, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater. Please leave condolences online by clicking "View Guestbook" below.
