Ronald "P-NUT" Lane
November 16th, 1954 - March 19th, 2014
Ronald W. (P-NUT) Lane, 59, of Gate City, passed away on Wednesday morning (March 19, 2014) at his residence following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Gate City. He graduated from Gate City High School in 1973. Mr. Lane attended Lincoln Memorial College, Mountain Empire Community College, and Virginia Highlands Community College. P-NUT retired from VDOT as an Assistant Engineer with over 33 years of service. He developed many great friendships while working with VDOT. Following retirement, he enjoyed fishing the rivers of Scott County accompanied by his wife. A special thank-you goes out to Doug Humphreys and Tom Beasley for providing P-NUT a peaceful retreat. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter (P-NUT) Lane. Ronald (P-NUT) Lane is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Gwen McConnell Lane; sons, Hunter D. Lane and Cole A. Lane; mother, Virginia Maddux Lane; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Daris McConnell; brothers-in-law, Stan McConnell and wife, Debbie, Clint McConnell, Jim McConnell and wife, Kristin; sister-in-law, Leanna Milton and husband, Reece; several nieces, nephews, and special cousins. A heartfelt thanks is extended to the McConnell family, Lane Family, dear friends, and especially Mariah Glover for allowing P-NUT to spend his final days at home. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday (March 22, 2014) at 12 noon at Holston View Cemetery with Rev. Joe Barber and Rev. Don Muncie, officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Loggans and Aaron Roberts at the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:50 a.m. A visitation will be held on Saturday (March 22, 2014) from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Gate City United Methodist Church Building Fund, 255 Walnut Street, Gate City, VA 24251 or to First Presbyterian Church of Gate City Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 506, Gate City, VA 24251. Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Lane family.
