Ronald "Frog" D Laughridge

Laughridge, Ronald “Frog”, 78, of Tampa passed away on Feb 8, 2022, at AdventHealth Carrollwood in the ICU. Born Nov 1, 1943 in West Palm, FL. He spent his school-age years in Tampa, graduating from Hillsborough High School in ‘62, before joining the Marine Corps. Ron was a tenderhearted, strong provider who was devoted to his wife, family, and friends. He loved to make people laugh, especially children. He treated all life with respect, whether it was his flowers, his dog, or someone he met at the grocery store. He never met a stranger. He was proud to be a high school football player, a Sergeant in the U.S.M.C, a Vietnam Veteran, a draftsman with Johnson Controls and General Dynamics designing submarines and owner and operator of Frogs Carpet Cleaning Service. After retirement, he drove a school bus for Head Start in Clay Center, KS, and upon returning to FL became the honorary “Mayor of the Mall” in Citrus Park, where he and other Veterans socialized daily. He was a man of steady faith, attending Riverhills Church of God, and Idlewild Baptist over the years. His prayer life was expressed through watering plants and mowing the lawn, giving his worries to God. Now he knows Him face-to-face. He is preceded in death by his parents Raleigh Laughridge and Lola Mae Winning and stepfather Bill Winning. He is survived by his wife, Sue Petty Laughridge; his children Lana (Alfredo) Bonilla, Rhonda (Anthony)Verhoeven; stepchildren Stephen (Christie) Miller, Stuart (Kelly Scott) Miller, Shallyn (Joshua) Hanson; his siblings Dan and Tom Laughridge; cousin Dean Rogers and 15 adoring grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be Thurs, Feb 24th, 2022, 10 AM at A Life Tribute Funeral Care 716 Seminole Blvd Largo, FL followed by military honors at The National Cemetery in Bushnell at 2:30.
