Ronald Keith Lauter, Sr.

October 21st, 1933 - August 12th, 2024

Ronald Keith Lauter Sr. passed away the morning of August 12, 2024.

 

Ronald was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Russell and Margueritte Lauter on October 21, 1933. 

 

He is survived by his five children, William Robert, Susan Elizabeth, Ronald Keith Jr, Patricia Ann, and James Alan; six grandchildren, Robert, Heather, Jennifer, Jamie, Kristina, Tammy; and two great-grandchildren, Raven and Robert.

 

Following his graduation from Kirkwood High School in 1950, he majored in chemical engineering at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.

 

In 1952, he met and fell in love with Marian James Hopton. The couple married fifteen months later on November 15, 1953, in Webster Groves, Missouri.

 

Ronald served twenty years in the US Army, rising to the grade of Major. His first assignment was in 1957 as a battalion recon and survey officer in Germany. He commanded Nike Hercules surface-to-air missile battery in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1960 and a 105 mm howitzer battery in Korea in 1963. Ron served on the staff of the Army Air Defense Command in 1965 and saw duty in Vietnam in 1970.

 

Upon retiring in 1977, Ron worked as a computer programmer-analyst for Inco Corp, and El Paso County. 

 

Funeral Services will be held at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado at 11:30AM, Monday, August 26, 2024. 

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to Springs Rescue Mission, 5 West Las Vegas Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
