Dr. Ronald Gerald Mitchell was born June 21, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. He resided in Las Vegas, Nevada until his passing, at the age of 79, on Friday, January 4, 2019. He is predeceased by his father, Karyl; his mother, Jean; and, his brother, Barney. Ron married Barbara on April 25, 1965 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His children Ron (significant other, Maria), Debbie, Greg and Karl (daughter-in-law, Jennifer) will continue his legacy and love. Ron's grandchildren were the light of his life and he never missed a moment of Papa time with them. Kelly, Alexandria, McKenna, Lauren, Cameron, Matthew, and Ethan will miss him greatly. His nieces and nephews were like his own children and Dawn, Stephen, Larry, Jason and Dana will miss the love and attention he gave them all their lives. He will be missed by his sister-in-law, Judy and her grandchildren, Jonah, Elaina, Brandon and Vanessa who loved him unconditionally. He will also be missed, very much by his cat, Blackie and dog, Taffy. Ron's true passion was watching the Cubs or Bears play on TV. He was a diehard fan and celebrated his birthday, last year, with a trip to Wrigley Field to see his beloved Cubs with his son, Karl. His favorite outing was going for a Snapdog every weekend with Karl. Ron really enjoyed time with his friends and the couple's card game they played in every few months. He loved a good joke and had the heartiest laugh. He, absolutely, loved family time and the dinners that brought us all together. He loved Jewish food and Toby's cooking made him very happy. He also would make us laugh, uncontrollably, with his antics. He loved his late mother-in-law and father-in-law, Estelle and Harry, as if he were their son. He took great care of mom and enjoyed her cooking. The best part of the dinners we have, now, is that he got to eat mom's old recipes. Give him a brisket and some kugel and he was a happy man. He was a kind and gentle man who loved his family, loved life, was good to everyone who knew him, and cherished the moments he had with every one of us. Certainly, heaven welcomed him with open arms. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147 .
