Ronald Snow

Snow, Ronald “Ron” Ron Snow passed away April 6, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Ron was born in Denver, Colorado October 16, 1934. Ron moved to Richland, WA with his mother (Hattie) and father (Bernard “Bud”) in 1943. They settled into a house on Goethals Drive where Ron and his brothers, Roger and Gary, would be raised. This home would be the family gathering place until 1996 . Ron was very proud of his brothers and cared deeply about them. Ron graduated from Richland (Columbia) High School in 1952. Ron was a first team all-state football and baseball player for the Bombers. From there, Ron attended and played baseball for Central Washington University and Yakima CC. He then served our country in the Air Force as a Military Policeman while stationed in Germany. After serving his country, he became a police officer in his hometown of Richland where he met his soon to be wife Marilyn (pictured above). Ron and the love of his life, Marilyn Ruth Sanders (1938-1993) were married April 22, 1961. Ron and his new family then moved back to Ellensburg to earn his degree in education at CWU. Ron taught and coached baseball and wrestling at Kennewick High School. He loved these years and spoke of them fondly. Ron returned to CWU a few years later to earn his masters in school administration in 1969. From there, Ron began a long career in the Renton School District as district athletic director until his retirement in 1989. His support of athletics benefitted all. He loved the students, families and staff of the district and he showed it with countless hours of support at many events at schools and at Renton Memorial Stadium. Ron was a recipient of the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame Contributor Award in 2006. After years traveling the country, he came out of retirement to find a new career as a Gaming Agent for the Swinomish Tribal Police, where he worked until 2009. He loved this new career and made great friends. For the past 10 loving years Ron and Maxine Schwinn have shared many great experiences in their travels and love of music. Ron loved his children and grandchildren. He was incredibily proud of Darin, Mike and Kristen and loved them dearly. His grandchildren were the spark in his eyes and he spoke of the often - he loved them so very much. Ron is survived by son’s Darin (Cathie) and Mike (Kristy), daughter Kristen, grandchildren Josh, Conner and Hannah, brothers Roger (Judy) and Gary, and by his love Maxine and by countless friends and others who were special to him. Ron was preceded in death by his loving wife Marilyn. Ron’s amazing traits of love of family, generosity, humor, story-telling, strong work ethic, patience and positivity, made him a friend to many and a role model and hero to those who loved him. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 1:00pm, on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Puyallup, 412 West Pioneer, Puyallup, WA 98371. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Puyallup in memory of Ron Snow. They will use funds for their Freezing Nights program to help the homeless.
