Ronald Alva Steiner
March 25th, 1938 - November 25th, 2014
On the morning of November 25, 2014, Ronald A. Steiner, 76, of Bradenton, Florida died following a series of health problems. Ron had been visited and comforted by family in his last hours at the Life Care Center of Sarasota. Ron was born in Carroll, Iowa on March 25, 1938 to Mamie and Alva Steiner of Westside, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa and received his Master's Degree in Library Science at Case-Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a Professor Emeritus at Indiana University of Pennsylvania having served as Associate Director of Libraries and University Librarian during his 35 years at the institution. Upon retirement in 2002, he and his wife, Joanne, moved to Bradenton. Ron was a member of local Kiwanis chapters in Indiana, Pennsylvania and Bradenton, Florida for 33 years. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joanne B. Steiner; three children, Kim Douglas Steiner of Savannah, GA, Diane (Steiner) Walls and her husband Robert of Camden, DE and Brian Steiner and his wife Katie of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving 3 grandchildren; Emily and Andrew Walls (Diane) and Leah Steiner (Kim Douglas). Services will be held at 9:00 am, Nov., 29, 2014 at Christ Episcopal Church, 4030 Manatee Ave West, Bradenton, FL.
