August 19th, 1942 - June 2nd, 2014
Biography Kernersville-Ronald "Ron" Charles Turner, 71, passed away June 2, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Carter officiating. A native of Melrose, Massachusetts, Ron was the son of the late Pauline Terrio and Charles George Turner. He graduated from Melrose High School and Babson College. Ron was one of the lucky ones who always knew the path he wanted to follow. As a little boy he had a fascination with aviation, building model airplanes, and watching the planes take off and land at the local airport. His career as a commercial pilot began with Air New England, a regional carrier. Moving to North Carolina to fly for Piedmont Airlines, he flew a variety of jets and served in the training department. He relished his experiences at Piedmont and appreciated the corporate culture. Ron concluded his career flying the A330 to Europe, a happy man. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years Sharyn Stout Turner of the home; son Major Andrew Martin Turner and Kathleen of Arlington, VA; sisters Pamela Kane and Stephen of Troy, MI, and Joan Alvord and John of Sebastian, FL; several nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family and friends.
