Rosa Gallegos
June 3rd, 1949 - July 23rd, 2015
On July 23, 2015, at the age of 66, Rosa Maria Mercado Gallegos passed away peacefully in Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital in Salinas, California due to complications of a stroke. Rosa was born on June 3, 1949 in Pecos, Texas to Abelino Mercado. Rosa and Ramon were married in Ojinaga, Chihuaha, Mexico by justice of the peace on March 20, 1963, and then at Parroquia Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, May 20, 1963. Rosa was best known for her love and devotion in raising her children, and always had an open door to family and friends. Her thoughtfulness and sense of calm even showed in nurturing close bonds with her grandchildren. Road trips to visit loved ones throughout the U.S. and Mexico were commonplace, which formed good memories and instilled family values for her children. Her best cooking included tamales, mole, and tortillas, and her children frequently called for special holiday recipes. Rosa is remembered as being enthusiastic about Bingo and frequently visited casinos in Reno and Las Vegas. She was reserved,yet outgoing and maintained a healthy sense of humor. Rosa and Ramon celebrated 52 years of marriage, and their legacy shows in their large, loving, and dynamic family. Rosa is survived by, her husband Ramon Urias Gallegos nine children; Carlos Gallegos, Elvira Gallegos, Enrique Gallegos, Javier Gallegos, Luis Ramon Gallegos, Jaime Gerardo Gallegos, David Gallegos, Ricardo Gallegos, and Angel Gallegos grandchildren; Monica Valerie Gallegos, Carlos Anthony Gallegos, Mariah Gallegos, Chenaye Alice Vallez, George Anthony Noel Vallez, Desiree Denise Ross, Enrique Daniel Gallegos, Bianca Marie Tate, Gabriel Adrian Gallegos, Jocelyn Gallegos, Javier Gallegos, Jr., Raul Vince Gallegos, Samuel Gallegos, Pablo Ramon Gallegos, Ashley Feliz Blackwell, Luis Ramon Gallegos, Jr., Joanna Gallegos, Julian Andrew Gallegos, Melinda Valerie Gallegos, Jacob Jaime Gallegos, and Janely Alexsandra Alaniz along with 19 great-grandchildren siblings, Arturo Rocha, Rodolfo Rocha, Armando Sotelo, and Zulema Sotelo also survive. Rosa is preceded in death by, her siblings, Rafael Mercado and Yolanda Mercado. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 1-9 pm at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 10am at the Healey Mortuary Chapel. Burial to follow services at the Gonzales District Cemetery Hwy 101 South Gonzales, CA 93926.

He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area.
