Rosalyn D. Canty

Rosalyn Bashara Canty, 81, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2020, at Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge. Rosalyn Dyann was born December 1, 1938, to Charles Thomas Bashara and Mary Ann Munyer Bashara in Algona, Iowa. She was the middle child between her older sister Beverly Bashara Moustgard and younger brother Thomas Bashara. She graduated from Ledyard Community High School in 1956 and went on to attend business school. She held various roles in the family grocery store in Ledyard, Iowa and the Green Giant canning factory. She moved to Colorado in 1965. She worked at the American National Bank as a teller. She met the love of her life Thomas Canty on a blind date in December of 1968. He proposed to her in February of 1969 and they were married in June of 1969. They purchased their home in Westminster and resided there until 1999. After their daughter, Nicole was born she stayed at home to care for her family. Rosalyn returned to work as a para-educator in a special education classroom and later moved to the School District 50 administration building where she was a substitute teacher caller and executive secretary. She retired in 1999 and moved to Arvada, where she resided until her passing. After retiring, Rose and Thomas spent time traveling across the country in their motor home. Some of their favorite trips included Alaska, Texas, and Florida, as well as various racetracks throughout the U.S. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading books, completing crossword puzzles and watching murder mysteries. She is survived by her husband Tom, daughter Nicole (Ray), granddaughter Tiffany(Alejandro), grandson Ryan and niece Jill. She will be missed by all who knew her.
