Rosario Cardali
October 6th, 1919 - July 20th, 2005
Rosario Cardali, 85, of Stewart Street, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter with his wife at his side. Born in Amsterdam on Oct. 6, 1919, the son of Salvatore and Josephine Salardino Cardali, he moved to Italy with his family and was educated there. A member of the Italian Army, he returned to Amsterdam in 1948 from San Fratello, Sicily. He was first employed by the American Locomotive Company and later for thirty years he was employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a crane operator. Mr. Cardali was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club. Rosario loved to garden and was known for his home made wine. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and more recently his great grandchildren. On Sept. 28, 1943, he was united in marriage to Maria Guidetti in Italy. In addition to his beloved wife, his loving family includes his daughter, Josephine and her husband Anthony Peconie of Schenectady; his son, David and his wife LeeAnne Cardali of Macon Ga., sisters, Theresa Oddo, Carmella Troina and Louise Mancuso all of Florida; eight grandchildren; Darren Anne Peconie, Christie David Malone, Brian Brenda Peconie, Mark Michelle Peconie, Scott & Anthony Peconie, Alessandro & Sophia Cardali; seven great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In 1974, he was predeceased by a daughter, Rena Peconie. Services are Saturday morning at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will take place in the family mausoleum in St. Michael?s Cemetery at a later date. Contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, 12308, to whom the family is most grateful for his care.
