Rose Marie Patala
August 9th, 1924 - April 11th, 2021
Rose Marie Patala passed away peacefully the evening of April 11, 2021, after having been visited by many loved ones. She was born 96 years earlier on a farm in Floyd, NY and was the last surviving sibling of the 9 children of Walter and Victoria Slaga. In 1948, she met her future husband of 68 years, Raymond Joseph Patala, a WWII veteran from neighboring Rome, NY at a dance in the Fall of 1947. They were married on October 3rd, 1948 and lived and worked in Rome until 1965. The family then moved to Indian Harbour Beach, FL where Ray worked at Patrick Air Force Base until his retirement in 1984. In 2001, they moved into Oceanside Village, Indialantic, FL. They have been members of Holy Name Of Jesus Catholic Church since 1967. Rose is survived by her two sons, Raymond and Robert, their respective wives Sue Ellen and Barbara; three grandchildren: Jennifer, Mary (Miles), and Katherine (Smith); five great grandchildren: John, Laura, Emily, and Julia Miles and Atlas Smith; sister-in-law Therese Patala, and several dozen nieces and nephews.
