Shamas, Rose, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday May 4, 2006 at St. Anthony?s Hospital. She came here in 1954 from her native Brooklyn, New York. She was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and Boley Manor. She was a former member of the St. Petersburg Woman?s Club, Museum of Fine Arts, St. Anthony?s Auxiliary, All Children?s Hospital Guild, Symphony Guild, St. Raphael?s Catholic Church and St. Raphael?s Woman?s Guild. She was an avid Bridge player and a great cook. Survivors include her two sons: Dr. Gilbert Shamas and Edward Shamas, both of St. Petersburg; two daughters: Anne Shamas and Betty Shamas, both of St. Petersburg; five grandchildren: Sandal Aronson, Dr. Shelby Shamas, Eric Shamas, Dr. Juli Shamas, and Dr. Christy Shamas-Biggar; and two great-grandchildren; Taylor and Amber Aronson.
