Rose Ursino
December 1st, 1915 - February 20th, 2015
Rose passed away peacefully after a short illness on February 20th 2015 in Edmonds WA at the young age of 99. Rose was born in Seattle, WA to Dominic and Anni Coccione. Rose was an identical twin and the youngest of four girls, Connie, Jenny and Mary. Rose graduated from Franklin High School in 1934. Rose met the love of her life Daniel Ursino and they married on November 29th 1934. In April of 1937 they welcomed their first child Roseann and in August of 1943 as Rose would say their perfect son Dan joined the family. Dan and Rose lived most of their life in Seattle WA and owned Dan and Roses Grocery Store in Rainer Valley. Dan and Rose also started the first Boys Girls Club in Rainier Valley. As a young woman Rose worked at Pattatonis Restaurant, VandeKamps Bakery and then later in life at The Coffee Pot. Rose loved to knit, play the organ, and play cards, she especially loved to travel with Dan in their trailer. Rose loved to make ceramics, sew and later in life took a class to make fur coats at Seattle Central College, she made beautiful pieces for her family. Rose also like to teach the younger generation how to make Italian Easter cookies and she made the best Pizzelles. Her Italian heritage and family unity was everything to Rose. Rose and Dan shared 69 amazing years together and their devotion to each other was only parted by Dans passing. They enjoyed many trips up to Conconully WA. and made many friends over the years. They spent their days playing cards, fishing and enjoyed meals with friends. Their time in Conconully was always precious but the door was always open when the family came up. On any given day Rose was always the life of the party and had an amazing sense of humor. The most important thing in Roses life was her family, not just her immediate family but her extended family as well. Rose was a wonderful neighbor and a great friend to so many. She always had salami, cheese and open arms waiting when you arrived. Rose is survived by her daughter Roseann, son Dan (Marie), eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years Dan, her sisters Jenny, Connie, Mary and her son in law Michael. Rose left a mark on us all and part of her will forever live on in our hearts. Sempre famiglia
