Rosemarie Nascimento went home to be with her Lord on November 15, 2017. Born on November 21, 1940 in the paradise of Hilo, Hawaii, Rosie spent her childhood there followed by a beautiful life creating her family - by blood and through love - in New York, Pittsburgh, PA, California, Oak Ridge, TN, Las Vegas, NV and the past several years in Charlotte, NC. She considered herself blessed with a full life and truly loved the people in her life even more. Rosie touched endless families as their Nanny. She had a special connection with every child she cared for no matter how short or long they were together. However, her true loves were Christ and her own two daughters, Hannah West, Sandy Mazoway, and her precious grandchild Samantha Rose Mazoway. Sam lovingly calls Rosie, Tutu, the traditional Hawaiian name for grandmother. Rosie is also survived by her son-in-laws Thomas West, Beau Mazoway and grandson Joel West, as well as her many adopted daughters which are too many to name. Catholic Mass will take place at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road, Charlotte, North Carolina on at 12:30 pm Friday, November 17, 2017. A celebration of Rosie's life will follow at Napa on Providence, 110 Perrin Place from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. The family has requested that their guests honor Rosie by choosing to dress in her fancy Diva style and her favorite color purple. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rosie's honor to the 24 Foundation (formerly 24 Hours of Booty) or the Levine-Dickson Hospice House & Palliative Care. Arrangements are in care of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service. Please share online condolences at www.hankinsandwhittington.com

Our services are crafted to honor your loved ones in ways that are both deeply meaningful and healing. Our rich history began in 1946 when Irvin W. Hankins and James B. Whittington took the reins of the Crouch Funeral Home. The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
