Daneri Mortuary
Ross Bossworth Aiken
January 18th, 1918 - August 3rd, 2014
Ross B. Aiken of Jackson, California died of natural causes on August 3, 2014. He was born in San Francisco and a lifelong resident of Jackson. His family had a cabin at Silver Lake and he spent his summers exploring the hills, hunting and fishing, where he developed his love of the outdoors. Ross graduated from Jackson Union High School in 1936 and attended Junior Collage for one year before going to work for Bank of America as a relief teller. He was sent to branches in Northern California and during his assignment in Hanford, California he met his first love Marie Pine. She was a waitress at the ice cream parlor where he had lunch every day. They married February 10, 1942 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Marie's death in 1992. During World War II they were assigned to military posts from California to Washington. After Ross' discharge from the Army they returned to Jackson to raise their family, where he took up carpentry and started Butte Block and Building Supply. Because of his love for the mountains during the summer months Ross built cabins at Silver Lake and Bear River Reservoir and in the winter he did remodels in many homes around town. Ross is survived by his longtime companion and second love Patricia (Pat) Brown, his three daughters Sandra Tollett (Dennis) of Jackson, Jacqueline Hemenway (Bruce) of Baker City, Oregon, Patricia Romero (Edward) of Hubbard, Oregon, nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday August 8, 2014 at Daneri Mortuary. Visitation times are Thursday August 7th 2p.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday August 8th 11a.m. to 1 p.m.
