Roxana Monroy Brockway

September 29th, 1955 - July 31st, 2024

Roxana Monroy Brockway (September 29, 1955 - July 31, 2024)

She was born in Honduras and moved to New Orleans with her much-beloved sister Adriana and Adriana's husband, Fernando, at 16 years of age. Roxy became an independent and strong woman during those years. There, she met her husband Hayden. They were married in 1983 and soon moved to Saint Petersburg, Florida where her beloved daughter, Chelsea Carolina, was born.  She found her dream job with the Pinellas County School District, assisting in teaching English as a second language to newly arrived children from multiple nationalities. Much loved by her students, she was often stopped while out and about by past and present students, whose lives she affected.  After retirement, Roxana, a true caretaker at heart, devoted her life to her family, always showering them with love and attention. She had a special place in her heart for her pets, especially her dog Bentley and the little animals that frequented her backyard. She will be missed greatly by her family and many friends whom she cared for and affected in so many positive ways.

Please join Roxana's family for a visitation at The Anderson McQueen Chapel (2201 Dr. M.L.K. Jr Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33704) on Saturday, August 24, from 10 am- 12 noon; followed by a memorial service and interment at the Sunnyside Cemetery (5300 19th Ave North, St Petersburg, FL 33710).

I met Roxana 35 years ago at Denver park. Our gurz (that’s how Rox said girls) were about the same age and we all became fast friends. We have stayed friends all these years. I recently moved back to St. Pete and Roxana was the first to greet me with a helping hand. I think Roxana had the kindest heart of anyone I have ever met. She loved God, her Family and her friends (2 legged and 4 legged). I will miss her deeply but I know where she and I know, without a doubt, she is watching over us all. I’ll love you forever Roxana❤️.
