Roxanne Marie Gonzalez nee Consiglio, August 6,1941 - April 6, 2022, of Santa Fe, NM, passed away after a long and difficult illness. Born in New York City Roxanne grew up in the Bronx, New York and Brentwood, New York. She was a lifelong scholar and artist having attended schools such as Music & Art HS, Pratt Institute, Cooper Union, Hunter CUNY and Methodist Hospital X-ray School. From careers in areas such as fine arts and education to X-ray and hospital administration she was dedicated to whatever jobs she performed and made a point to be a mentor in any position she was in. In the later part of her life she spent many years studying Tibetan Buddhism with the Venerable Lama Dorje-la at the Santa Fe KSK Buddhist Center. Those who knew Roxanne knew she did not suffer fools lightly and was passionate about her causes. If she saw an injustice you could not ask for a better advocate, from the protest marches of the 60's to current events she could be counted on to rise to the occasion. She was an avid reader and loved doing the NY Times crossword puzzle every Sunday. For many years she was active in the English Bull Terrier community breeding and showing dogs. In her retirement she volunteered in a variety of different places such as Santa Fe's St. Elizabeth's homeless shelter to various northern NM animal shelters. Her wickedly sharp wit and generous heart will be greatly missed. Roxanne leaves behind her soulmate, true love and husband for the last 35 years of her life Jose de Jesus Gonazalez, her children Jennifer Phillips - Hayes, Jonathan Roo Phillips, and her niece/daughter Samantha Phillips, her sister in law Mercedes Gonzalez, her grandsons Manfred Hayes and Gunther Hayes, her nieces and nephew Jamie Ward, Kristen Terhaar, Anna Morales and Carlos Morales, her great nephews and nieces Justin Terhaar, Taylor Terhaar, Jake Ward, Katie Lane, Julian Morales, Sami Rivera, Joey Rivera and Yuhanni Morales.
