Loving Wife and Grandmother Mrs. Roxie Roxie G. (Nicholson) Beritich, of Puyallup, Washington, born on May 23, 1935 in Tacoma and passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2019. She was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Auntie. Roxie was the beloved wife of the late Mitchell C. Beritich August 26, 1931 - March 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lora Nicholson, her Brothers, Pat Nicholson, and Mike Nicholson, Brother in Law John Ambrosia; and Sister, Glenda Creten. Roxie is survived by her sons, Michael Beritich and Greg (Maria) Beritich; daughters, Laura (Stan) Drahos and Sarah (Tom) Peebles; brothers, Glen Nicholson and Jack Nicholson; sisters, Colleen Ambrosia and Debbie; and grandchildren, Alison Drahos, Zach Beritich, Rachel Beritich, Tommy Mitchell Peebles, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom loved to laugh and most of all she loved all of us. Our Dad was a commercial fisherman so that meant mom was home taking care of everything while dad was out fishing. She raised us all to treat people the way we would like to be treated, with kindness, love, and gratitude. Mom and Dad will live on through all of us who knew and loved them. Mom and Dad touched many lives, we miss them greatly. Mom was born in Puyallup Washington in a large family. They didn't have much growing up and had to work very hard to rise above, and she did. Mom was a wonderful person, friend, grandmother, and a great mother. In her early 20's she survived the first of its kind open heart surgery where they flew doctors and medical staff in from around the world witness and learn from. The doctor's saved her life that day and 1000's of lives since. We are lucky kids because the doctor's told her she wouldn't live past 40 and not to have children...we are glad she didn't worry about all that! With her son Mike as her sponsor, Mom became a Catholic as an adult, decided on her own. She was baptized April 28, 1996, at St. Joe's Catholic Church in Tacoma along with daughter Sarah and her sister Glenda. Mom had great faith in Jesus Christ. Mom Was a homemaker, caretaker, "chief cook and bottle washer" as my Dad would say. She met and married Dad in 1957, the love of her life. They met while she was working at Knapp's restaurant. Mom said Dad would stare at her from the gas station across the street on Proctor, but she played it cool. One day Dad got up the nerve, walked across the street to Knapps to ask if he could drive Mom home from work. Of course, she said yes and she laughed every time she told this story because they both knew mom lived two doors down from work. Well, the rest was history. mom loved working for Mr. and Mrs. Knapp and spoke of that time in her life often as some of her fondest memories. She loved watching sports, news, soaps, and anything about history and antiques. Mom loved to go out and have fun with us all of our lives, lunch, picnics, long drives, and she loved it most when we would all be together, laughing and having fun. She asked us, brothers and sisters, to promise to always be close and mom we promise we will. You raised us up to love, laugh, give and to say thank you to one another and to all people. We all promise Mom, we will. We know how important that was to you. For many years Dad and Mom used to have huge family barbeques and parties and those are some of the greatest memories that we all have. Mom and Dad's barbeque's and Croatian Cuisine were enjoyed by all. After that Dad passed in 2014 Mom's heart broke. Now they are in heaven together, in love forever with Jesus. Mom and Dad always told us to treasure what we have while we have it. Don't take things for granted and if you love someone tell them while they can still hear you. And if we lose them along the way treasure the memories until we are together again. Mom and Dad will be laid to rest together as promised and requested no service. We are honored to have such great parents who loved us so much, we are blessed as a family. Just please remember Mom, remember Dad with love, patience, and forgiveness and most of all be kind to one another. Mom would like that. Mom was loved by all and will be greatly missed. There was no service per Mom's request. Our family invites donations in Roxie Beritich's name to Veterans of Foreign Wars Local Fife or Tacoma.
