Roy "Whit" Leon Whitham
December 21st, 1931 - February 7th, 2014
Roy Leon "Whit" Whitham Jr. passed away on February 7, 2014 at his home in Nampa, he was 82. He was born December 21, 1931 to Roy and Ruth Whitham in Hamden Connecticut. He was the fourth of five children. Upon His graduation from High School, Whit joined the US Navy, he proudly served in the navy for 20 years at duty stations in Libya, Europe, Washington DC, Vietnam and Guam as a photographers mate. Whit was married three times, He married M. Juanita Morris in 1950, he had a daughter Debra D. Whitham, he married Karen L. Whitham in 1960, he had a daughter Karen E. Whitham and in 1961 he married Betty E. Personett, his Wife for 52 years. Betty and Whit added two sons and a daughter to the family. Upon retiring from the Navy in 1969, Whit moved his family to Nampa, he was a self-taught mechanic who started his second career working for Burke Hudelson Ford, and later Dan Wiebold Ford as the service manager. In 1985 Whit left Dan Wiebold Ford to start Whit's Auto. Whit was a people person; he knew his customers and went the extra mile to ensure their repairs were done right. Whit sold the business upon retirement in 1993. He started his retirement career working in support of the Back Country Horseman and the South West Idaho Trail Riders association. Whit was an avid horseman who spent a lot of his time on horseback in the Idaho wilderness. In addition to trail riding, Whit loved bowling and woodworking. Whit was a great father, husband and friend, he touched many people in his life. Whit is preceded in death by his sister Shirley Beach, he is survived by his wife Betty Whitham, his Brother Robert Whitham, his sisters Carol Clark and Ali Whitham-Fogg, his daughter Debra D. Arostegui, Karen Whitham, and Daleanne Koonsman, his sons Mike Whitham and Ken Whitham. His grandchildren Brian Moore, Lindsey Warner, Cody Whitham, Heather Whitham Graham, Carol Clark, Andrea Nicole Griffin, Rebekah Whitham, Kyle Whitham, Emily Whitham and his Great Grandchildren Hailee Graham, Reagan Graham, Emlyn Moore, Madison Graham, Tripp Arostegui, Avery Graham, Phenix Brewer, and Neela Clark. A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd Caldwell. Whit's interment ceremony will be private.
