Ruben Canny

No memorial services are planned for Ruben Canny. Ruben passed away June 30, 2008 at his home in Chico. He had a rare incurable cancer. He was born January 19, 1938 in Mexico City, Mexico to William Canny and Angela Davalos. Ruben received a M.S. degree in engineering from VA Tech. He worked in the aerospace rocket propulsion industry for 38 years and most recently as a Financial Analyst for CSU Chico. Ruben enjoyed golf and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Butte Creek Country Club and was very active at Grace Brethren Church, having served as Chairman of the Board of Elders, treasurer, and teacher . He served as a S.C.O.R.E. volunteer. Ruben is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wendy Elizabeth Canny of Chico; one son, Ruben Canny Jr. of Dayton, Ohio; three daughters, Carie Catherine Sweeting of Bradenton, FL, Wendy B. Scott of Chico, Carrie L. Sturdy of Warrenton, VA; mother Angela Davalos Horner of Pensacola, FL; two brothers, Jack Canny of Pace, FL and Bill Canny of Kingport, TN; mother - in - law Ethel B. Carrier of Chico; grandchildren Rachel, Emily, Jennie, Tyler, Natalie and Carly Jo.
