Ruby Winther

Ruby Winther Ruby Victoria Winther went home to be with our Lord on October 29, 2017. She was born to Swedish parents Reuben and Emma (Deedon) Dunberg on May 8, 1919 in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. Her family moved to Eugene in 1929 after losing their farm during the Depression. Ruby graduated from Eugene High School in 1937 and attended the U of O for one year. She married Donald Winther in 1941. They raised four children together. Don and Ruby celebrated 67 years of marriage. Ruby was the secretary to the Lane County Commissioners from 1950-1972. She also worked in other county departments for eight years. Family was very important to Ruby. She was always so loving, supportive and willing to help her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She gave greatly of her time and energy. Ruby was a faithful member of Central Lutheran Church for 87 years. The family would like to thank Peace Health Hospice for their wonderful care. Ruby is survived by her children: Lynette Shelley (Michael), Cheryl Natterstad and David Winther all of Eugene and Stanley Winther (Bee) of John Day; her grandchildren: Cherelyn Wheeler (Dan), Shawn Shelley (Becky) and Lisa Dillow (Josh) and 10 great-grandchildren. Ruby’s visitation will be held on November 8, 2017 at West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home at 225 S. Danebo Ave in Eugene from 11:30 AM – 1:15 PM followed by her Celebration of Life at 1:30 PM.
