Rudolf Alfred Minoot
February 17th, 1927 - July 31st, 2014
Rudolf Alfred Minoot February 17, 1927 - July 31, 2014 Resident of Walnut Creek Rudolf Alfred Minoot, loving husband of Grace M. Minoot, and loving Father to Carole E. Minoot and Nancy L. Engdall. Cherished Grandfather to Sara and Shelby Engdall, and Brother to Constance Crombie. Rudy passed quietly at home on July 31, 2014, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 87, and married to his beloved Grace for 64 years. He had been bedridden for the last 3 years of his life, and his family would like to think he is happy walking again up in Heaven. Rudy was the son of Alfred and Antonina Minoot, of Latvia, Russia. Born February 17, 1927 in Shanghai, China, he immigrated to the United States in 1946 to attend the University of California, Berkeley. While earning his Bachelors Degree and attending Graduate School, Rudy became a "displaced person" as a result of the communist revolution in China. Rudy helped arrange the safe passage of his parents to San Francisco, and the family became U.S. Citizens. Rudy met the love of his life, Grace, in1948 when he asked her to dance at a UC Berkeley dance. She liked that he was so tall, and had beautiful blue eyes and blonde hair. They were married the following year in Berkeley. After a 5 year career in Insurance working in San Francisco, Rudy came to the realization that a life behind a desk was not for him and became a lifelong entrepreneur owning many different businesses and traveling extensively, until retiring to manage his real estate holdings in California, Alabama and Nevada. Rudy was proud to work alongside his daughter Carole for several years, and she played an ongoing role in managing his accounts. Rudy enjoyed sending his girls on many trips, and in 1985 took a very special trip back to his childhood haunts in China. The family has decided that after cremation there will be no memorial service. As per Rudys wishes, his girls went to a very special dinner at Vic Stewarts to toast him and wish that he was there. Rudy was one of a kind. He was the original "out of the box" thinker and had a wicked sense of humor. He loved his family and was very generous with his wife and daughters. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him. No services to be held
