Russell "Larry" Sharpe
August 10th, 1944 - April 4th, 2016
Funeral services honoring the life of Russell "Larry" Sharpe, Sr. will be held Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at 11:00am in the sanctuary of Fish Hatchery Road Church of God, 3249 Fish Hatchery Road, Gaston. Bishop Wendell Hendrix, Sr. will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, April 8th, 2016 from 6.00pm-8:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington. Russell "Larry" Sharpe, Sr. went to be with the Lord Monday evening, April 4th, 2016 at the age of 71, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha McLeod Sharpe; his siblings, James "Stanley" Sharpe (Gail), Rebecca "Becky" Lee (Doug), Jennie Hendrix (David), Connie Skipper (Donnie Sr), Sandra Braswell (Mike), Ronnie Sharpe (Corina), Jerry Sharpe and Marie Sharpe; his children by Susie Ottinger, Donna Williams (Byron), Russell Sharpe, Jr. (Sandy), Cynthia Miller, Marty Sharpe, Sr. (Kellie); his child by Dorothy Sharpe (predeceased), Stacy Sharpe (Tracy); and his step-daughter, Randi Hall (Bryan, Sr.). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole Alexander, Charlie Alexander, Caroline Sharpe, Paige Miller, Marty Sharpe, Jr., Seth Sharpe, Chloe Sharpe, Bryan Hall, Jr. and Wyatt Hall; along with two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Clinton Odell Sharpe and Virginia Helms Davis; and his sister, Esther Neese (Bobby). He was the owner of Sharpe's Septic Tank & Well Drilling Service. With only a third grade education and a strong work ethic he created a successful business that has served the midlands for over 50 years. He cherished his family, friends, employees, and customers. His hobbies included fishing in Lake Okeechobee, hunting, farming, raising livestock, showing Tennessee Walking Horses and playing with Meg-pie, his yorkie puppy. He enjoyed bringing people together and eating good food. Martha and family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Palmetto Health Richland, Lexington Medical Center, Davita Dialysis of Gaston and Fresenius of Clewiston, Florida for taking such good care of him.
