Ruth Bright, 92, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Sunday August 21, 2022, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family. Ruth was born and raised in Hiltons, VA to the late Verlin and Janice Bright. She married Carles Bright in 1951 and moved to Kingsport where she spent most of her life. Ruth worked at Eastman Chemical Company until she decided to become a stay-at-home mother. When her children were grown, she became a crossing guard for Kingsport City Schools and retired after over 30 years of service. Ruth resided at Ft. Henry Arms for over 40 years. She was a lifetime member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church being a loyal member over 60 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 58 years, Carles Bright; brother, David Bright; sisters, Cledith McMurray and Inez Anderson. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Pam Collier and husband, David of Kingsport and Sandy Miller and husband, Dennis of Johnson City; grandchildren, Kandy Kinsler of Kingsport and Jamie Sproles and husband, Justin of Kingsport; great grandchildren, Kaylea Kinsler, Ella Duffer, Declan Sproles and Sawyer Sproles; great-great grandchildren, Bryce Kinsler and Raquel Kinsler; sister, Mary Ann Starnes and husband, Cliff of Kingsport; along with several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Eulogy will be given by her granddaughter, Jamie Sproles. An entombment service will follow at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please perform a random act of kindness in honor of Ruth's memory. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.cartertrent.com.
