Ruth M. Friedman

Ruth M. Friedman passed away on February 21, 2018 from Alzheimer’s Disease. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband, Alan L. Friedman in August of 2006. Both were hard-working New Yorkers. Ruth and Alan traveled extensively throughout Europe, Latin America and Mexico during their marriage. Many trips were part of Alan’s work as a geologist at Frederick R. Harris and Co. where the two met. Ruth was a consummate professional, supporting the executives at the highest level of the corporation for over 25 years. She suffered after losing her quiet and supportive husband and turned to volunteering at the local Public Library and Haven Hospice Thrift Shop to keep herself going. Ruth also worked part-time as an Administrator for Beck and Berlage Real Estate until several years before her passing. Ruth was supported greatly during her illness by generous, caring neighbors who sustained her and her cherished cat, Monkey. Toward life’s end, numerous care giving staff–from management to one-on-one aides and nurses–at The Kensington Falls Church and Independent You cared for Ruth and brightened her time. It is with great sadness that we lose Ruth, a straightforward, perceptive person who fought Alzheimer’s to remain the independent, strong woman she always was. There will be a memorial service for Ruth on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm at Advent Funeral Home (7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia 22046). Ruth will rest with Alan at Arlington National Cemetery. Any donations can be made to the Capital Caring Hospice (formerly Haven Hospice at 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042).
