Ruth Evadel Guest

Ruth Evadel Guest, 92, of Greeley, CO passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Life Care Center of Greeley. Ruth was born on June 2, 1924 in Stephen, MN to Nels and Selma (Lundin) Jorgensen. She graduated high school in Stephen and attended the Warren, MN Teachers Training Department. She taught in rural schools in Marshall County, MN for five years. On September 20, 1947 in Stephen, Ruth married William G. Guest. Ruth and William lived in Ellsworth, WI and moved to Greeley in 1957. William passed away in 1986. Ruth worked for Kenton Manor for ten years and for NCMC for 15 years, until her retirement in 1986. Ruth loved to crochet, cross-stitch, and do embroidery. Over the years, she made numerous afghans and donated many baby afghans, prayer shawls, and baby caps to various local organizations. Ruth enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She enjoyed going to Bible studies and attended a senior exercise class into her 90’s. Ruth was a long-time member of Cornerstone Community Church and a local TOPS chapter, having been in a leadership position with TOPS for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and tirelessly listened to the tales and antics family members told of day-to-day happenings and events in their lives. Ruth will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Judy (Bob) Rollins of Buena Vista, CO, Claudia (Claude) Auch of Greeley, Leanne Durand of Greeley, and Sandy (Joe) Winkler of Greeley; grandchildren, Michelle Rollins, David Rollins, Susan Rollins, Bryan Guest, Jodi Auch, Benjamin Auch, Trace Durand, Jordan Durand, and Sarah Winkler; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Christine (Donald) Olson of Spokane, WA; sister-in-law, Phyllis Jorgensen; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Guest; son, Jim Guest; brother, Donald Jorgensen; and sister, Luverne Jorgensen. A service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Adamson Chapel.
