Ruth DeWitt Rowland No services will be held for Ruth DeWitt Rowland, 80 of Chico. She passed away Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Enloe Hospital. Ruth was born June 5, 1926 in Paul’s Valley, OK. She was one of eleven children. Part of the family moved to California in the 1930's. Ruth remembered the journey with six children traveling for a week in a Model A Ford. She graduated from High School in Salinas. Over many years Ruth worked and taught in her church. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting. Her survivors include one son, Dan Schuessler of Chico; three daughters, Carol Cory of Fostoria, MI, Elizabeth DeWitt of Littlefield, TX and Judy Cane of Chico; one brother, Ray Johnson of Salinas; two sisters, Bessie Pruitt of Lexington, OK and Lucille Pittman of Cave Junction, OR; many grand and great grand children. Donations may be made in her memory to the Grace Community Church in care of the Affordable Mortuary which is handling the arrangements.
