Ruth Elaine Schreiner
July 28th, 1932 - July 23rd, 2020
Ruth Elaine Schreiner, beloved wife of Donald D. Schreiner, died peacefully at home Thursday, 23 July 2020. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday 28 July 2020 at 10 am, Mtn. View Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 masks will be required. Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Ruth was born in Nebraska 28 July 1932 to William and Clara McIntyre. Ruth was the middle child and the only girl. Ruth was a bit of a tom-boy who enjoyed 4-H and running around with her 2 brothers. Ruth met Don in high school and her mother would send her little brother Dean to chaperone their dates, but the two would often ditch Dean somewhere while they went off to the movies. The high school sweethearts were married on 18 May 1952. They shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Don was in the Air Force, which took the two to England for several years. While there, they started their family having 5 of their 6 children whom Ruth enjoyed raising. She sewed all of the kids clothing and enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. Ruth always remembered her years in England with fondness. Don and Ruth moved from England to Mountain Home, Idaho in 1965. Here they added to their family and settled down permanently. She and Don were avid gardeners, he enjoying the vegetables and fruit trees, she the flowers and roses, ever the complimenting couple. Ruth started a new rose and flower garden in her yard which still looks beautiful today. She joined the First Congregational Church where she played the piano for the congregation for over 50 years. Ruth made many friends in Mountain Home and enjoyed meeting and visiting with them, as well as with her large family. She loved to play cards and dominoes, cook and can, and baked the best pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Ruth is survived by her children: Brian (Cindy) Schreiner of Boise, Idaho; Janet (Tom) Horgan of Mountain Home, Idaho; Dennis (Jan) Schreiner of Phelan, CA; John (Maura) Schreiner of Burnt Hills, NY; Mary (Larry) Cromar of Boise, Idaho. Ruth is survived by her baby brother Dean (Sally) McIntyre of Redondo Beach, CA. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as her ever-faithful canine companion Mac. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her oldest son Mark, her older brother Harold and her great-granddaughter Marissa. The family would like to send a special thanks to Melanie Learned for taking such loving care of Ruth the last couple of years.

Rost Funeral Home
As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
