Ryan Douglas Cook was born on June 27, 1958 in Wilmington, Del. and was called home to heaven on Dec. 15, 2013 at the age of 55 years and 6 months. Within days of birth he was adopted by his parents Norman and Helen (who was always called Maxine) Cook. They were military and lived first in Holton, Kansas. Ryan grew up in many places, including Kansas, Washington State, Hawaii, and ending back in Seattle, WA. Ryan finished high school at Stealth High School in Seattle, Wash. During his high school days, he was very involved with music and bands. Ryan's family included two brothers and 2 sisters. After high school, Ryan attended college for one year and then enlisted in the Army. He was stationed at Ft. Huachuca, AZ., then in Germany at Volgelweh Base; Texas, back to Germany, then ending his duty in CAL. Following his career as an E-5 Sergeant, he and Mary Anne (who he met in Germany at the Volgelweh PX) moved to Florida in 1992. They had married in 1991 in Petaluma, Cal. with a celebration at the Presidio, in San Francisco. When they moved to Brevard County, Ryan worked at Sea Ray Boats of Merritt Island, working himself up ""from the bottom"" to being a Computer Analyst until 2006. Following his work at Sea Ray he worked at Mack Technologies in Melbourne as a quality control engineer. But Ryan's real vocation always was his Christian music. He and MaryAnne were leaders of the Illumination Band at Trinity Lutheran in Rockledge; Faith Merritt Island; leading and planning worship at the new mission church of Grace Lutheran, Merritt Island, and Faith Viera Lutheran. They played for a large number of venues, at National youth Gatherings; ministries in Georgia, New Orleans, etc. - not just in churches but also in jail ministry and down-and-out places. He loved to be able to bring the love of Christ through music to others. One of his dreams was to finish his career in the ""working world"" and then become a fulltime Music Minister. Ryan's other interests included his motorcycle, more music, and spending time with his granddaughter Morgan. They lived in Rockledge Golf View; then in Auburn Lakes, Viera, and recently in Phillips Landing, Rockledge, Fl He was predeceased by his father Norman Cook; son Douglas in July, 2013. He is survived by his wife MaryAnne, son Brian, and mother Maxine of Holton, KS; two sons in Sierra Vista, AZ - Daniel and Sean; brother Ron (and wife Brenda) of Whiting, KS; Rick (and fiancée Lisa) of Seattle, Wash; sister Maria (and husband Tom) of Stehekin, Wash.; and sister Paula of Anchorage, Alaska, (and also special friend Jasmine, their Pekingese). In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Z88.3 (Christian Radio Station, 1065 Rainer Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. ) Services will be at 2 p.m. on Dec. 29th, 2013 at Faith Viera Lutheran Church, 5550 Faith Dr. Rockledge, Fl followed by internment at the church columbarium with reception in the Fellowship Hall after.
