Sallie Hay Swisher, Dr.
June 21st, 1942 - August 19th, 2024
Dr. Sallie Hay Swisher of Tierra Verde passed on to meet her Lord & Savior on August 19, 2024. She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Arthur Swisher, and her beloved son, Arthur Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel & Sallie Hay, and her beloved son, Michael.
Sallie graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. She received her master's degree in counseling from The College of William and Mary, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in counseling from Boston University, and a doctorate in counseling/school psychology from George Mason University. She was a nationally certified school psychologist, a licensed specialist in school psychology in Texas, and licensed professional counselor supervisor. In her thirty year career in education as a special education teacher and school psychologist, Sallie was privileged to work with outstanding colleagues and serve students and their families in Virginia, Texas, Florida, and the Department of Defense schools in Germany. She was an adjunct professor for the College of Education of St. Petersburg College.
Sallie loved to travel, and God blessed her throughout her life with wonderful friends and family with whom she shared those journeys.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Empath Suncoast Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at The Island Church on Tierra Verde at a date to be determined.
