Sally G. Rogers

Sally G. Rogers, 82, of Amsterdam passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 in Amsterdam, NY. Born in Amsterdam on November 5, 1932, the daughter of Angelo and Maude E. Jones Greco. Sally was a 1950 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She attended SUNY Oneonta and was employed by Mohasco Corp. in Amsterdam as a Payroll Clerk. On August 31, 1957, Sally married John D."Jack" Rogers. She was a member of the Woestina Reformed Church, St. Monica Court #61, Order of the Amaranth, Eastern Star, and Sarah Jane Sanford Home Board of Lady Managers. Sally was a Past President of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as an inspector of elections for many years. In addition to her husband, Sally is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Jack)Thelin and Nancy Rogers of Amsterdam, James (Valerie) Rogers of Marietta, GA. Grandchildren, Robert (Sarah) Thelin of Perth, NY, David Thelin of New York City, John Rogers of Polkton, NC, James Rogers of Lenoir, NC, Rebecca (Ryan) Van Biljon of Rolesville, NC, and Stacey Davis of Greensboro, NC. Great-grandsons, Jackson Thomas Thelin and Alex Van Biljon. Sisters, Elmyra Estelle of Amsterdam and Frances Gurdak of Tampa, FL. Brother, Dominick (Jessie) Greco of Amsterdam. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She is predeceased by brothers, Frank (Bosco) Greco, Donald Greco, Peter Greco, Anthony Greco and Joseph Aiken; sisters, Muriel Weaver and Nellie Colburn. Sally loved sending greeting cards and will be missed by all who knew her. She took a genuine interest in other people and her greatest love was her family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with her adopted son, Rev. Kent McHeard presiding. Interment will follow in Hagaman Mills Cemetery, Hagaman, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday September 1, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Sally would want you to do something nice for someone.
