Sally G Sanchez

February 23, 1929-May 6, 2019 Sally G. Sanchez (Grandma, Little Grandma, GG, Grandma Sally, Grandma Sanchez), was born on February 23, 1929 in the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. She entered into eternal rest peacefully at her home on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe C. Sanchez, her sons Joe Jr. and Richard Sanchez, and her daughter Patricia Gallegos. She is survived by her daughter, Nora Jaramillo and husband Robert, her sons Louie Sanchez and wife Virginia, Victor and Fred Sanchez, eleven grandchildren, Jessica (John), Victoriano II, (Julie), Brian (Suprise), Robert (Valerie), Weeg (Ana), Nathalie (Christopher), JoAnna (Joel), Peter Jr. (Jessica), April, Crystal and Felicia, twenty-nine great grandchildren, Nicholas, Brian P., Victoriano III, Marcus, Robert D., Emily, Jonathan, Cristela, Jason, Isaiah, Jonah, Jailyn, Sofia, Efren, Isaac, Darren, Jose, Joaquin, Antonio, Izekiel, Patrica, Alejandro, Antonia, Ashley, Manuel, Raquel, Isabel, David, and Gabby, and five great-great grandchildren, Victoriano IV, Kataleya, Jayden, Bella and Moses, and her dog Cookie. Sally grew up in the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. Sally's grandmother Leonor taught her to be independent and to work hard from a young age. She started working at the age of 9 as a caregiver for neighboring families. She married Joe C. Sanchez at the age of 17 and moved to Minatare, Nebraska. After the birth of her first two children she and Joe returned to Albuquerque and went on to have five more children. Sally raised her family and worked as a Dietitian for the Santa Fe Railroad Hospital for over 30 years. After that she continued work in healthcare services as a dietician for various adult care facilities in Albuquerque. Sally had the most contagious giggle—just one of her funny little jokes could make anyones day. She always had a joke or story to share. Her honesty came from her heart because all she ever wanted was for us to grow to be good genuine people. In hindsight, her truths were just a way of life, a loving example of a living truth. She loved to hear of the goals set and accomplishments of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very proud of all of them. She always took in friends of her grand children and great grandchildren as her very own. To most she was known as, "Grandma", "Little Grandma, or "GG". She will be remembered for many things but her tradition with us was always Christmas Eve where she prepared enough tamales and posole for all who would make their rounds to stop by and see her. No one could or would ever leave her house without being fed. We were blessed to have her make one last Christmas Eve meal this past Christmas 2018. Sally was a completely selfless woman, all the way up until her very last breath. The circle of life is such a beautiful gift and we are all so blessed to carry on her legacy of living life to the fullest with a cheerful sense of humor, treating everyone you meet with kindness, and most of all living a life of selflessness. Although our hearts are broken, we are truly grateful for the years filled with honesty, kindness, laughter, and unconditional love. We are blessed because to us she was a mother, a grandmother, a great grand mother, a great great grandmother as well as a teacher, leader, and friend. She will be greatly missed, always loved, and forever a part of our life and character. Our family would like give a special "Thank you" to Reanna Hedin with Presbyterian Hospice. Though grandma was only home for a week Reanna was able to guide us to give our Grandma the very best care when she needed it the most. Rosary will be recited by the Legion of Mary on Monday, May 13 at 6:30pm at Riverside Chapel 209 San Mateo NE. Funeral Mass will be given, Tuesday, May 14 at 9am, at St. Therese Catholic Church, by Father Vincent Chavez. Pallbearers will be Robert A. Jaramillo, Brian Sanchez, Weeg Sanchez, Victoriano Sanchez II, Peter Gallegos Jr., and Nicholas M. Duarte. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of her grand, great and great-great grandchildren.
