Sally S. Zierdt
January 4th, 1927 - June 16th, 2024
In loving Memory
SALLY S. ZIERDT (nee Munger), 97, of Englewood, Florida, passed away on June 16, 2024, comfortably at home, as was her wish. With her were her loving daughter, Robin Lenox and son, Karl Faruzel and her beloved cat, Darlin’.
Sally was born January 4, 1927 in Buffalo, New York, daughter of George and Ruth Munger (nee Sprickman) both of whom predeceased her. Sally outlived three husbands: Herman O. Faruzel of East Smithfield, Pa (father of Robin and Karl), Frank H. Grey of Markham, Ontario, Canada and Conrad (Connie) Zierdt Jr. of Allentown, Pa.
Sally received The Daughters of The American Revolution award in Middle School. She cherished the award throughout her life. One of her great joys was her opportunity to teach as a substitute teacher in Pennsylvania during which time she was very popular and offered a number of long-term substitute positions. She had a voracious appetite for reading and loved working crossword puzzles, instilling both of these interests in her children. She was an expert seamstress, making numerous school costumes and clothing of all description for herself, family and friends. She was adept at tailoring and was a proficient knitter, having knit socks for the troops during World War II. Growing out of her talent, Sally always had a keen eye for fashion which translated into her business interests in dress shops and a wedding boutique. She was fashion forward to the end. A hobby Sally enjoyed was tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. The Iris was her favorite flower. Always active in her community and church, Sally was always willing to bake for a fundraiser or special event. Sally would never decline an opportunity to travel and she shared many adventures with husbands Frank and Conrad, enjoying worldwide destinations. In her later years in Florida, Sally remained an avid traveler, taking many cruises.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Sally was preceded in death by her siblings and in-laws. Norma J. Sutter (Dr. Ken), Nancy Wenner (Donald) and Milton Munger (Jadawwn) and by a step-daughter, Norma Book and a step-son, Conrad Zierdt III.
Sally is survived by her loving daughter Robin and son, Karl, her sister Marilyn “Bunny” Kontos (George) Koukal (Dr Paul), her step-daughters, Barclay Alldred (Clarence) and Sandy Staley (Vince) as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on June 26th at Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Charlotte, Florida, the Reverand Brian Albrecht officiating. Burial will be at the Church.
She was the best Mom ever!
