Sam Duane Ellis

October 30th, 1956 - July 30th, 2024

Sam D. Ellis, age 67 of Windsor, CO passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

Sam was born to Sam & Hilde Ellis on October 30, 1956, in Clear Lake, SD. After receiving his GED he moved with his family to Loveland, CO. He did many odd jobs throughout his life. One he was proud of was his time with the YMCA in Estes Park, CO. After retiring, he moved to Windsor, CO where he made many friends.

Sam loved going back to Sioux Falls every year to spend a week or two with his twin sister Susan and her husband Dan. There he would get served his menu as requested. He loved spending time with his great nieces and nephews. He would always get down on the floor to play with them. Sam loved playing with his two great nephews at home as well. His little people made him so happy.

Sam made several friends, and Mark especially was his close buddy. They watched old tv shows and football together. Sam was one of the Broncos’ biggest fans. He kept up on their stats, had some coaching pointers and just loved talking Broncos with anyone that wanted to talk football. He also had many other friends whom he spent time with and had countless conversations. He enjoyed the friends he had made.

Sam adopted Chase, his beloved dog, in 2019. He took Chase for walks several times a day. Sam and Chase were best buddies.

Sam is survived by son Dante of Fort Collins, CO, brother Scott (Michelle) of Arvada, CO, twin sister Susan (Dan) of Sioux Falls, SD and brother Shane (Kris) of Windsor, CO. His nieces Kasey, Krissa, Korey, Samantha, Sally, Dani and Hailey. His nephews Dan, Tom and Teran. He had a special place in his heart for his great nieces & nephews Wilder, Bodie, Winnie, Juni, Jack, Bentley and Rylan.

Sam is preceded in death by parents Sam & Hilde Ellis, and brothers Stan, Steve and Shaun.

Graveside service will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake, SD Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00 am.

A celebration of life will be held in Windsor, CO at a later date.
