Sam Isamu Kora, 96, Notus, ID, went to be with his Heavenly Father on December 8, 2010. Sam was born on August 22, 1914, in Boise, ID, to Niichi (Jim) and Sekiyo Kora. His parents and three brothers, Aiichi, Taka and Masa, preceded him in death. He has one surviving brother, Noboru of Hiroshima, Japan. Sam married Toshiko (Tee) Kido on February 18, 1943, in Caldwell, ID. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Tee, and their children, Irish Kuntz, Portland, OR; Sam M. (Coral), Montgomery, AL; Cheryl (George) Pugh, Shedd, OR; Janice (Wally) Hoki; and Ilene (Stanley) Wallace, Caldwell, ID. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren, Kimi (Jon) Fong, Denver and Hunter Pugh, Michael (Meredith), Paul (Joy) and Keiko Kora, Grant and Alina Hoki; and three great grandchildren, Jonathan and Abbie Kora, and Makenzie Todd. Sam was a farmer all his life in Napton, OR and Notus, ID. After his retirement, he was still a farmer at heart, growing fruits and vegetables that he would share with his family and friends and keeping a very meticulous yard. His quiet spirit guided the lives of his children and grandchildren teaching them strong values and integrity. Sam loved playing cards, scratching lottery tickets, bowling, and fishing with his family and friends. He will live on forever in our hearts and memories. He was a faithful member of the Notus First Baptist Church until he had to go into assisted living. His children want to express their gratitude to the staff at Canyon West Health and Rehabilitation Center for the gentle and loving care they gave him in his last days. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7pm, Thursday, December16, 2010, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd in Caldwell. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 17, 2010, at 11:00am at the Notus First Baptist Church with a private family graveside service at the Lower Boise Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Notus First Baptist Church or to the Notus Community Center. Service Information
