Sam Swanson
March 6th, 1967 - January 16th, 2022
Sam Swanson of Loveland Colorado, went to be with the Lord on January 16th, 2022 at the age of 54, surrounded by his loving family. Sam was born March 6th, 1967 in Greeley Colorado the youngest of 6 children born to Glenis Swanson. He attended Greeley schools and graduated in 1986 from Greeley Central High. As a true "Wildcat”, he played varsity football throughout High School earning roles as a captain and member of the All-State team amongst various other awards for athletic accomplishments. While in high school, Sam completed auto-mechanic courses through vocational programs. He also enjoyed other activities such as woodshop, metal shop, and partaking and or instigating many practical jokes. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, which always revolved around a shared passion for cars, mechanical work, and cruising around town. His other loves included drag racing, motor cross, the Pittsburgh Steelers, collecting toys, and watching movies with his faithful dog Anny. Sam's first job was working at a Jiffy Lube where he quickly advanced to an assistant manager. Proceeding Jiffy Lube, Sam continued his career working for various dealerships including Spradley Barr Ford, Rudy's Star Mercedes, Heritage Ford, and Davidson’s Chevrolet where he met his bride-to-be Lanay McGuire in 1991. They married on May 16th,1992, and have been married for almost 30 years. In 2000, Sam and Lanay were very proud to welcome their one and only son Wyatt, who inherited many of Sam's attributes and characteristics and became known as a "mini-Sam”. In 2008 Sam created his own mechanic business functioning out of his home before moving into his own shop in 2014. Since then Sam has continued running a successful business run off of honesty and integrity which created many friendships and trusted customers over the years. He was truly one of the best and most knowledgeable individuals in his field. Outside of work, Sam enjoyed cheering on and coaching his son Wyatt in soccer with the LCS soccer team where he had a tremendous impact. Sam will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Sam is survived by his mother Glenis Swanson of Greeley, wife Lanay Swanson of Loveland, son Wyatt Swanson of Loveland, Uncle Newell Swanson of Greeley, and five siblings including Elaine, Jay Irwin of Greeley, Mitchell, Dana Holcomb (Ed Holcomb) of Greeley and Loren. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 29th at 10:00 am at Foundations Chruch in Loveland. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Wyatt Swansonson’s Scholarship fund ℅ Viegut funeral home, 1616 N. Lincoln Ave, Loveland, CO 80538. Services will be live-streamed at Foundation’s website for those unable to attend.
