Samantha Jean Bergenske was taken from this world way too soon. On Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the age of 20 years old, she died in a tragic motorcycle accident in Loveland, CO. Sam was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 9, 1999. Her family moved to Fort Collins in 2003 when Sammie was 3 years old, then to Loveland at the age of 7. Sammie has always just been one of the boys; having all brothers, she had to find her place and her place was found at day one. She always looked so sweet and innocent - but wow she sure could hold her own and often times it got her in trouble. I think at times she felt like she had to fight to earn her place wherever she went. At 16 years old she finally realized that her words were just as strong, if not stronger. As small as she was, her personality was huge! She was full of love, compassion, caring, giving and could never see anyone go without. She brought so many people into our lives. Most kids bring home stray animals, Sammie brought home kids with similar stories as her own, all who have become family. She stood up to the bullies and she helped the one being bullied up off the ground, dusted them off and introduced herself. The next thing we knew, we had a new family member. Everyone Samantha brought into our home, became a member of the family. Every new girl became a sister and ever boy became a new brother. Sam helped everyone, fed the hungry, let the tired rest in her room, and made sure they had everything they needed before they went on their way. Her caring and trusting heart got hurt at times, but most of the time she felt the reward in her heart from helping. Always smiling and laughing, hanging out with friends, playing pranks and being so full of life. Very seldom was she bored. The last couple of years she was talking about marriage to the man she never stopped talking about. Everyone who knew Sam was, I'm sure, tired of hearing about Kenny…Kenny-Kenny-Kenney! She had plans to marry him soon and wanted to start her own little family. She was amazing with children. Samantha comes from very large families including 5 generations on one side. She loved being from such a huge family. She is preceded in death by her great-grand parents George Rains and Melvin William (Fuzzy) and Catherine (Kate) Foster, great uncle Kenny Rains, great aunt Betty-Mae Schoen, great uncle LaVern (Boone) Harbison, uncle Danny Rains Jr., second cousins Kim Carlberg Deavult and Jesse James (Buzz) Foster and a sister Dani Jean Catherine Kranz.   Sammie is survived by her fiancée Kenneth McClay; parents Kathy (Steve) Rains-Wilson and Russ Bergenske; great-grandmother Dee Bottjen; grandparents Ed & Barb Bergenske and Danny Rains, Phyllis (Foster) Cooper, Demetrio & Josie Loera; brothers Cody (Eva) Mann, Michael Person, Russel Bergenske Jr, Levi Bergenske, Edward Bergenske, and Steven Wilson Jr; nieces and nephews Kaiden Bergenske, Miguel, Emelia and Cody Jr.; aunts and uncles Ed (Karen) Bergenske, Tammy (Danny) Mann, Terry Bergenske, Paula (Jody) Barnes, Jeremy (Nikki) Cason, Patty (Tony) Pulford, Loren (Mindy) Karges, Jesse Rains, Jake Rains, William Cooper, and Duane Pennington; as well as several cousins. Funeral services will be held at Viegut Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. with interment at Loveland Burial Park following the services.
